I have another salmon recipe with turmeric, but I am saving that one for the book. Until then, you will have to just sink your teeth into this delicious dish!
(makes 2 servings, 5 min prep, 8 min cook)
Ingredients: 2 salmon steaks, 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon curry powder, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, salt & pepper to taste.
- Heat 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil in a medium pan over medium-low heat then add the salmon steaks, skin side down.
- Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon curry powder, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, and salt & pepper to taste.
- Cook for 5-8 minutes, flipping half way through.
The addition of pepper enhances the bioavailability of the turmeric, which has amazing health benefits, though much of it gets metabolized before it can be absorbed during digestion. Pepper, however, has the ability to limit some digestive enzymes so that the turmeric cannot be broken down as quickly, giving it more time to be absorbed. Salmon and olive oil, in conjunction with the pepper and turmeric mixture, provides an extremely potent anti-inflammatory combination, which is wonderful for rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and other inflammatory conditions. Turmeric and black pepper also have great preventative effects against cancer and obesity development.
