A good quality blender makes it so easy to throw together smoothies (or soup) on the go while sneaking in some extra servings of vegetables. I even use my blender to whip up paleo bread dough and baby food! Blendtec blenders are the absolute best. You can read my full review on their product in my blog post here. I recently converted to their products and I could be happier!
If you bake a lot of your own goodies like I do (which you probably will if you follow a paleo lifestyle), then a standing mixer is a must-have. KitchenAid mixers are top-notch. Plus, their products are gorgeous. They make hand and immersion mixers as well if the standing mixers aren't on your list. KitchenAid also has first rate customer service which is really important to me.
I absolutely love my Paderno USA spiralizer! And I am obviously not the only one, because they are top-rated. These spiralizers are great for making healthy vegetable noodles, a crisp salad, a delicious base for a breakfast hash... You name it! I own their four blade model and use it very frequently. They are easy to clean and their company just came out with a new model that folds down into the box for easier storage, which is really convenient.
For the longest time, I was stubborn and put off buying a mandoline slicer. I used to just slice everything by hand, but some recipes require that you have very consistent slices so that everything cooks evenly. For example, making your own homemade vegetable chips is much easier when all the slices are the same thickness. Also, when you have to make a bunch of cuts, a mandoline seriously cuts down on prep time and gives you a few more minutes to relax. I love my Tupperware Mandochef mandoline slicer, because it slices, cubes, juliennes, and waffle cuts.
A nice, thick cutting board is crucial in any kitchen. A quality wood like maple is not only going to be the safest for your food, but will also protect your knives. When it comes to cutting board, you can't get better than Boos Blocks. I own a few of their maple boards and they are not only quality that will be able to withstand anything you throw at them, but they are beautifully crafted and are a great addition to any kitchen. Boos also makes amazing beeswax and oil treatments that keep the wood moisturized and repels water to extend the life of your cutting board and protect your kitchen utensils.
Slow cookers are just so convenient on days when you don't have the time to be hovering over the stove for hours. They are also amazing in their ability to retain the flavor and juices of your dishes - the absolute best winter meals come from a slow cooker! I highly recommend the Ninja 3-in-1 Cooking System. It not only functions as a high capacity slow cooker, but you can use it as a steamer or straight on your stovetop as well! What's not to love?
A nice, sharp, and durable set of knives makes all the difference in the world when you are cooking. When it comes to choosing a knife set, pick quality over quantity. You will be much happier in the long run with a smaller variety set of knives than a larger, less quality set with multiples knives of the same function. I highly recommend Wüsthof knives! Crafted in Germany, their lazer sharp knives slice through anything with ease and their company has amazing customer service. I own their Epicure line and absolutely love them.
When eating healthy, it can be easy to miss something crunchy like chips while watching a movie with the family. I love to use my Weston digital dehydrator for making healthy vegetable and fruits chips for my son and to go along with dips when we entertain guests... and beef jerky in bulk for my husband (who would fill our grocery cart with beef jerky packages if he could). Weston makes high quality products, including dehydrators of all sizes and price points for whatever your needs!
Pressure cookers are the perfect way to make your own healing bone broth (and pretty much anything else you can think of!) at home and are available in either stovetop or electric versions. I use my GoWise 8-in-1 electric pressure cooker all the time and I love that it is one of the very few models that have stainless steel on the inside instead on non-stick and it has a delay timer of up to 24 hours and 12 cooking presets to make cooking as easy as the push of a button.
Herbal teas have endless healing properties, though fresh, quality teas with the most benefits are typically found in loose-leaf form. That's why I love my Cuisinart electric tea kettle with steeper, because you can simply spoon the tea leaves into the stainless steel canister and it automatically heats the water to the best temperature for the type of tea you are preparing and steeps the tea. No mess or fuss!
When I stumble downstairs in the morning (picture a zombie from the Walking Dead... attractive right?), the first thing on my mind is a cup of coffee before getting to work on my cookbooks. Since I enjoy a nice cup of decaf and my husband thinks I am crazy, the Cuisinart 12 cup coffee maker and single serve brewer allows us each to easily make our own flavors or brew a large pot when we have family or friends visiting. In my opinion, this machine makes much better coffee and has less chance of health damaging mold growth than the Keurig.
Whether using it for a quick griller burger or a slow smoked rack of ribs, a quality smoker will deliver an amazing depth of flavor to your meal. If you like charcoal, the Pit Barrel Co. makes an amazing quality vertical smoker that requires absolutely no set-up - you are ready to start cooking right from the box! If you prefer smoking with wood, the Davy Crockett model from Green Mountain Co. can be controlled electronically via WiFi. Both models are portable, very affordable, and would be perfect for smoking rookies and experts alike!
Paleo baked goods are sometimes more difficult to remove from traditional baking pans, so I have come to absolutely love using silicone baking mats. My favorite brand is Weston, because they are very well made, reasonably priced, and are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
These Bee's Wraps are wonderful natural and sustainable alternative to plastic wrap. Made of beeswax, organic cotton, organic jojoba oil and tree resin, these wraps are not only non-toxic, but they are washable and reusable as well. I use mine to wrap cut fruits and vegetables to keep them fresh in the refrigerator as well as packing foods in my husband's lunch.
